The Buchan village of Strichen sits at the foot of Mormond Hill, and features a delightful community park run by volunteers.
A lake provides a home to swans and ducks. On my visit it shimmered in the sun, a vision of timeless beauty. One could imagine secret treasure hidden within its depths, and Buchan ballads in the ripples on top.
A café offers treats galore, staff smiling, genuinely happy to help.
Woodland walks weave in to the countryside, gifting respite from worldly cares, like a magic forest where, if you walk quickly enough, you just might out run your dreams, and meet them again at the end. Or you can simply meditate within the peace of nature, and imagine yourself anytime, anywhere, a piece of paradise unfurling in your heart.
