Heavenly Haddo

Haddo House is a haiku of history, a stanza of serenity, and its grounds are a lilting verse of verdant landscape …

A stately brick mansion house with steps leading up to a door and six windows on each of the two stories above.

Take a guided tour round the stately mansion, and be dazzled by the daunting beauty of its furnished rooms, and the haunting history of its family (many generations of the respected Gordon family lived here). The tour includes 85 paintings of Aberdeenshire castles by famous Victorian artist James Giles.

The Victorian gardens surrounding the house are bliss in bloom; from flowers to a fountain, from trees planted by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert to a charming chapel, from a striking sundial to paths of poetic symmetry, from an avenue of lime trees to lavish parkland beyond. The estate features beech, oak, lime, ash, Scots and Corsican pine and Noble Fir trees.

As you stroll through the tamed gardens and untamed parkland beyond, you can really imagine you have found heaven. Haddo House, its enchanting gardens and country park is a must visit for tourists and nature lovers alike.
