A visit to the impressive and intriguing Fyvie Castle (castle open during spring and summer; grounds open all year) is not complete without a walk round its tranquil lake, a stunning scene of natural beauty.
In winter, the lake is fierce but serene, with frozen ice punctuating its smooth waters like a living image stuck in time, the beating heart of history hidden beneath.

The lake is home to much birdlife, including swans, ducks and migrating geese. However, the swans are the kings here, their bewildering stark beauty a joy to observe.

The lake walk is the perfect length for a delightful winter stroll, and a window to a wild but peaceful world of wonder.
